Oversize Overweight Load Permit

Description/Purpose

To allow operating vehicles with oversize/overweight loads for one single specific trip.

This permit is an overweight permit for a vehicle with an oversize and or overweight non-divisible load. To produce the Axle Spacing Report for Overweight Permits use: https://secure3.wsdot.wa.gov/commercialvehicle/permits/public/AxleSpacingReport.aspx, or call 360-704-6340 for assistance.

Explanation/Description of costs/fees, including statutory, regulatory, or other legal authority for fees

Fee is based on weight over total registered weight at a fee per mile on State Highways. To Calculate estimated fee amount visit: https://www.wsdot.wa.gov/commercial-vehicle/permits/home

Application Information

The application is called 'DOT Form 560-021' is online and can be accessed at https://wsdot.wa.gov/travel/commercial-vehicles/commercial-vehicle-permits.

No - Only the permit application and permit fee is required to issue the permit.

No - However should restrictions be in place on planned route the permit could be declined. In that case a new route may have to be determined.

Permit Timeliness Results

Permit Timeliness data collection is in response to a State Auditor’s Performance Audit and RCW 43.42A. Each regulatory agency developed a plan to improve permit clarity, predictability, and timeliness. Each agency considers the customers experience to ensure permit assistance is simple to use, easy to access, and designed in a customer-friendly manner. Agencies report progress to the Governor’s Office for Regulatory Innovation and Assistance (ORIA). ORIA prepares and distributes reports, with participation from the State Auditor’s Office and Results Washington. Mileage is necessary to compute fees. Minimum fee is $14.00. Routes of Travel are also required to determine if roadway restrictions exist on proposed route. If restrictions exist, permit will may be denied and a new route can be determined.
