Underground Storage Tank Notification Requirements

(UST Notification)
What is the purpose of this notification?
The 30-Day Notice gives the inspector the chance to communicate with the owner/installation company and observe the actual tank installation or tank closure process. A state notification form, available from the Department of Ecology (Ecology), must be completed by those who intend to install or remove (close) an underground storage tank (UST).

Notification is required 30 days before installing a new tank or removing an existing one. A certified/licensed professional must perform the installation or removal.

Contact your local fire marshal and local planning department prior to tank closure and/or installation to find out if any additional permits are required by city, county or other local jurisdictions.
